Many Americans love diners, but in New Jersey, the love of diners is ingrained in the state's culture. There are currently more than 450--old and new, big and small establishments. It was partly because NJ had the best road infrastructure in the country, as well as a dense, working-class population. Located in Pompton Plains off of Route 23 North, this fabulous restaurant has everything one wants, from amazing service to great food. My partner, his family and I decided to pay Pompton Queen Diner a visit for dinner after 3 years. Greeted by the staff, and despite how packed the diner was upon arrival, they take your number, then text you when the table is ready, and the wait was never too long--about 10 minutes. Their menu is never-ending, and even the pickiest of eaters will find something on the menu to order. As a starter to share, we ordered the Feta Saganaki. For the main meal, we decided on the Piled High Meatloaf with Mashed Potatoes and Steamed Broccoli, Tenn Smoked Sliced Steak, PQ Kale and Quinoa Wrap with Waffle Fries, and Churrasco Steak Sandwich. The food was tasty, well seasoned, and arrived hot. Portions were large. We had a terrific server, Jack, who was attentive and accommodating. The price was comparable to the area.We had a wonderful dinner experience which we can recommend.

I wish the Pompton Queen Diner was closer to where we live, because it easily our favorite diner. Sometimes the wait can seem daunting if you come at a busy time, but it always moves faster than you expect. On this occasion I revisited one of menu items I really liked on a previous visit, the French Dip. It was as good as I remembered it to be. The bread was fresh and although a cuban roll isn't the usual choice for French Dip it really works here. It soaks up the excellent au jus without falling apart and isn't too dense. The beef is tender and flavorful, and the creamy horseradish sauce gives the sandwich a pleasant zip. My father went with what I believe was the Tomato Basil and Goat Cheese Omelette. He wasn't as thrilled with this. He liked the flavor but felt it was overcooked. It wasn't bad and we didn't send it back, but he may go with something other than an omelette next time. As always, the waitstaff is welcoming, friendly, and frequently checked in to see if we needed anything. The diner remains a pleasant and clean place and seems to be very well maintained. All in all, you really can't go wrong at the Pompton Queen Diner.

A traditional jersey diner with a great menu, daily specials and excellent service. Food is always hot and well prepared with large portions. Absolutely the best cup of coffee around IMHO. Been coming here for years. Unfortunately post Covid hours have limited its hours. 7-11 and 7-12 on Friday and Saturday.

My family takes me here every time I visit Wayne. I always enjoy the diner experience since diners are not as big of a thing on the West Coast. Great prices, great food, nice portions -- have never been disappointed here. It seems the wait staff has been there forever and it was pretty busy on a Friday morning visit. Oh, and delicious coffee! An extra star just for the coffee!

NJ home of great diners and this one won't disappoint! It's a busy place conveniently located on the highway. Plentiful plate of food. Only downside while I was there was a staff member vacuuming between tables. Kudos for cleanliness but boo to dust and noise from vacuum. But don't let that stop you! Try the Napoleons...they are made on site daily and rival the best bakery!

The best diner in North Jersey! Portions are huge - and I'm a leftover lover so I enjoy the take home. Literally so good - the line is always out the door. On Fridays and Saturday off you get there after 6pm there will be a wait - but it's so worth it. Anytime of day- breakfast, lunch, or dinner you are sure to get a great meal!

This is a very nice diner with great variety on the menu. Our server was very nice but had some issues with the order. I had a chicken sandwich (I can't remember the name, but it was one with avocado and turkey bacon). The sandwich was good size and had plenty of fries. The overall experience was good, and I would return again.
